Robotic-Assisted Surgery - Minimally Invasive Surgery

Shorter stays, quicker recoveries

“Surgery” can be an intimidating word when you don’t know what to expect. But rest assured knowing the doctors at Princeton Baptist Medical Center will walk you through the process from preparation to recovery. Minimally invasive surgery makes surgical procedures faster, safer, and easier than ever, and recovery periods have shortened dramatically.

Our surgeons can use minimally invasive surgery to perform dozens of diverse operations throughout the body. We perform some laparoscopically, while others involve a robotic surgical system. A variety of minimally invasive surgery procedures that treat simple and complex conditions uses the da Vinci®Surgery system. This approach uses an advanced robotic surgical system that decreases risk and recovery time.

Increased precision and shorter recovery time can often be attributed to endoscopes. These long tubes, which can be equipped with a camera or other tools, can reach nearly every part of the body. They have reduced surgical incisions from several inches to a couple millimeters in some cases. Home recovery time has decreased from several weeks to just a couple weeks in many instances. Many of our minimally invasive surgeries can be done in outpatient procedures or in short, 24-hour inpatient stays.

The small incision creates a smaller scar, but the shorter recovery period happens because the surgeon can put the endoscope exactly where he or she needs. The surgeon can view high-resolution images on a large video monitor and operate with more effectiveness.

Minimally invasive surgeries are efficient and effective solutions for those who need them; however, minimally invasive surgery isn’t always the best option for every problem. The dedicated doctors at Princeton Baptist Medical Center discuss all your options with you to create a plan that’s right for you.
